The raw material of PE cloth generally refers to colored strip cloth, which is coated with PE film on both sides of PE woven cloth, and also uses polypropylene woven cloth. Tarpaulins are usually divided into two categories: coarse tarpaulins and fine tarpaulins. Coarse tarpaulin, also known as tarpaulin, is a strong and foldable fabric with good waterproof performance. It is used for car transportation, cover of open warehouses and tents in the wild. The warp and weft yarns of fine tarpaulin are used in the production of labor protection clothing and its supplies. After dyeing, it can also be used as shoes, travel bags, backpacks and other fabrics. In addition, there are rubber tarpaulins, shielding tarpaulins for fire and radiation protection, and tarpaulins for paper machines. The waterproof performance of this kind of cloth is very poor. Generally, the waterproof performance cannot be guaranteed after one use. The disadvantage is that it is easy to wear and tear. PE cloth also has the characteristics of light resistance, frost resistance, aging resistance, corrosion resistance, light weight, easy folding and durability, and the price is cheaper than PVC tarpaulin.

Tarpaulins usually have sturdy grommets at the corners or edges for easy lashing, hanging or covering.

PVC cloth is polyester filament base cloth, and then coated with PVC paste resin on both sides. Because it is a dipping process and one-time molding, this cloth has PVC paste in the cracks, so it has good waterproof performance. Now the cloth, yard and other rainproof articles on the truck are made of PVC cloth. PVC material has good rain resistance, PVC has good labor resistance, and the aging resistance of PVT cloth is obviously better than that of PP and PE cloth. PE is soft in winter and PVC is hard, but PE is easy to wear, and the connecting part of PVC is more wear-resistant.
